The only way to make sure you are eating right….

Diet – for some people- is a mystery. Not all people can eat the same way, to start. So what if you do know how and what you should eat?

How can you be sure to maintain the habit of eating well?

Prepare your meals in advance.

It’s the only sure-fire way I’ve seen to ensure that you are getting your 6+ meals per day.

Some people, like Graeme Thomas advocate preparing meals twice a week. You might spend a maximum of 4 hours per week this way.

In Scrawny to Brawny, John Berardi describes a different approach to meal prep. The Scrawny to Brawny method is simply creating a couple of rituals – the morning ritual and the Sunday ritual. The morning ritual is a daily event where one would prepare all or most of his/her meals in approximately 30 mins. The Sunday ritual is for ensuring that you are stocked up on the appropriate food. You might also want to prepare some food and freeze it for later in the week.

Plan your meals

People may think it’s ridiculous to eat the same 6 meals every day, but think about it – there is a limited repertoire of meals that even unhealthy people eat. If you would like a little more variety you could, for example, plan to make meal 3 a “beef meal” or a “chicken meal” – the type of (healthy) meat is not important. If you wanted to make meal 3 a beef meal, you could make chilli one day and Greek burgers the next.

Eating right is simple, but sometimes difficult to implement because it involves changing habits. I believe that the regular replacement of old bad habits with new good habits is essential for success in any field.

So why not make one small change in exchange for a lifetime of health and happiness?
